This was just "High Maintenance" lawn and shrubs before I transformed it...this
is new, soon it will mature and be full of interest, and no lawn to cut!
Here's some detail and only six months later...

Here's a complete project, to show you how to transform a high maintenance space into something that combines planted beds with gravel areas...but in an interesting way.
One of the best ways to use space in a low maintenance way is by laying a
deck or patio. They are perfect for entertaining and perfect for filling some
of the space that used to be a lawn.
Notice the curved fronted Patio, details on how to cut curves can be found in "Landscaping...Patio's."
Off this curve you take other curves. These curves take your eye off the squareness of the space. As you can see, I've created a curved bed to the right and edged it to make it even more interesting and also to retain the soil to stop it mixing with the gravel.

Here it is newly finished...and because I "Design and Build" ALL these projects myself, I can also show you how it looks as it matures, next...
Note from Paul Dyer...sorry to view "next", you'll have to buy my CD-ROM, HUGE AMOUNTS OF UNIQUE INFORMATION FOR PENNIES!

And there you are...and again newly planted, so it can only get better.
